our manifesto

we are queer sheds

We create hands-on, queer-led spaces to share practical skills, to build, to fix and to grow together. The space we’ve always needed but have rarely found.

We honour queerness not just as identity, but as a way of being: radical, resilient and regenerative.

We believe queerness belongs everywhere: in the soil, in the workshop, around the fire, and at the kitchen table. We are reclaiming land and skill, heritage and tradition, story and kinship.

We’re responding to our shared sense of disconnection from each other, from ourselves, and from the natural world. We want to show how the future can be different, and grow it with our own hands, cultivating joy and composting hardship.

We show up in all our identities, visible or not. We recognise the exclusions, inequalities and barriers to access that shape our lives and communities, and we set out to create spaces where care and adaptability are at the core. We build community as resistance to the systems that divide us.

We recognise the collective strength offered by intercultural connection, intergenerational exchange, multiplicity of backgrounds and diversity of ability. We organise without division, with mutual care at our core.

We celebrate the spaces that have held us, those carved out through courage, protest, dancing, and solidarity. We honour those who fought to create these spaces and connect with those who tend them still, finding ways to continue reimagining our collective future.

We are soft and serious. We balance action with rest and nourishment. We are practical but imaginative. We are decentralised and interdependent. We are a community of courageous communities.

This is a meitheal of queers seeking belonging and creating change beyond the mainstream.

We are gathering now to build brave new spaces. Join us.
